New York, Here I Come!
I have the wonderful pleasure of being able to visit the world headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses this week. A bus load of us left Rockingham, NC early this morning at 3am. we arrived here at the Hampton Inn after 6pm. The first thing that struck me about the area was the views of the surrounding mountains. Once here at the hotel I had the strangest thought. My mind went back to my early childhood years. I saw a sign that said "Welcome to Catskills". I thought about the story of Rip Van Winkle. Why? Because the first thing I remembered about the story was its setting...the Catskills! It is funny how the mind can sometimes remember the smallest of details. Now, here I am all these years later, in the place I once read about in a book. The story of Rip was just a fiction, but this place is real, and beautiful, and serene. It wouldn't take moonshine for me to be able to sleep away 20 years of my life here (read the story...lol).
After checking in to the hotel, we went to Soho to eat. It is a very short walk from the hotel. And we were told they would give us a 20% discount on our order. The atmosphere was very inviting. Staff was professional yet fun. Of course we had to try the pizza..it's New York! My friend Brenda and I got the pepperoni. It is both our favorite. It did not disappoint! It was very good. As a matter of fact, it was the second best pizza I have ever had. (Number one still goes to the pizza aboard the MSC Divina cruise ship). Brenda enjoyed her Cobb salad with champagne vinaigrette dressing...sounds rich doesn't it. We also enjoyed tamales with avocado and sour cream. If you are in the area, I highly recommend Soho's Bar and Grill.
We visited The Watchtower Headquarters in Brooklyn, we visited the Educational Center, rode by One World Trade Center, Little Italy, Brotherhood Winery (Oldest continuously run winery in the US), Galleria Mall and more.
We all have places stuck in our head for one reason or another. Where is it that you want to go? Stop dreaming and lets make it happen! McMillian Travel is here for you!! Call us at 704-727-8821. We will take good care of you.

Florida Vacation Day 6
So, who says you can't do two theme parks in one day and live to tell the story? The first half of the day we went to EPCOT (which stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow). The second half was spent at Magic Kingdom. The day included lots of walking (I got in almost 16,000 steps), a ferry boat ride, a monorail ride and seeing lots of Disney characters. I would say more about the day, but I am too tired. So I will let photos do the talking.
After such an active day, it was time to rest. Tomorrow is the "drive" day to come back home. What a great time we had. Next year I plan to have a group of families come here to see what the "magic" is all about. If you would like to visit for the first time (or second, or sixth), please make sure you are on our email list and you like our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/McMillianTravel

Shopping and Family Day
Time to slow down the pace! Time to do some shopping and spend time with family. Since this is the only free day we will have, we decided to go shopping and get some lunch. We went back to Boardwalk Brothers for lunch. We also took more time to explore the flea market and go to a couple of gift shops. After a few hours of shopping, we went back and talked with some of our relatives who now live in the area. We spent the rest of the evening catching up, laughing and eating.
Tomorrow is going to be a long day. First, it's Disney, then I have to leave and go to the Tampa Blues Festival. Of course, I am excited about that and will be taking a lot of photos.
Time for bed, more tomorrow.

Florida Vacation Day 3
What a day we had today! So, like I said, we spent last night at my brother's house in Tampa so we could get the day started early. We got up and, after breakfast, we headed to Clearwater Beach for a couple of hours in the sun. The kids had a blast at the beach.
After our beach trip we went back to Hampton's place and he grilled steaks, hot dogs, hamburgers, sausages and made jerk chicken for us. At the end of the day, there is nothing like family.
