Clearwater Jazz Holiday Day 3

Day 3 was certainly fill of it's own surprises. I had not heard of any of the bands on todays line-up. The day started off with The Champ Jaxon Band. Champ is 12 years old! And I was impressed with how well he played the guitar. His father also plays the guitar. I was impressed with his talent and enjoyed seeing he and his band perform. You can tell he has a genuine talent and love for music and I believe that will take him far in his career.

Next up was St Paul & The Broken Bones. The lead singer had lots of energy and the band really showed their stuff on stage. All of the band knew their stuff but it's just something about the horn section that makes you want to scream for more!

Old Crow Medicine Show had me laughing in my seat and clapping and singing. According to their website: Old Crow Medicine Show is an Americana string band based in Nashville, Tennessee, that has been recording since 1998. They are a lively group that plays a mix of bluegrass and country. They are a delight to watch! They really have fun on stage and the energy level is thru the roof! I did enjoy their show. It is refreshing to see artists who love what they do and enjoy doing it.

Last up was Gov't Mule. Gov't Mule is an American Southern rock jam band, formed in 1994 as a side project of the Allman Brothers Band by guitarist Warren Haynes and bassist Allen Woody. While the crowd really seems to go wild, I sat there and tried to enjoy the music from my front row seat. However, there were others who felt they needed to see him more than I did so it was hard trying to look thru others to see the performance. I did get a few photos with my phone and was able to record a few minutes of footage before I gave up and left the front row seat I had been in all day. I figured it wasn't worth the hassle of a potential misunderstanding with people whose parents were not glass makers (so they were not glass and I could not see thru them). So, I went to the back of the ballfield and watched on the jumbotron. It was a much better view with less hassle. And also ensured I would not catch any charges or get any jail time (that's a story for another day).

So again, another Clearwater Jazz Holiday has come to an end. We usually do not stay for the Sunday acts but this time we did. And I am glad I was able to expand my musical horizon with groups I did not know anything about. When you come, that is part of the experience, hearing something you haven't heard before. And thru it all, you may just find a group that becomes one of your new favorites.

Clearwater Jazz Holiday Day 2

It took me till today to get over yesterday's performances. Now it continues. Day 2 starts off with a 15 year old protégé, Justin-Lee Schultz. It is a family group from South Africa. The father plays guitars along with a family friend (age 21). Justin plays keyboards and guitar and his sister (age 19) plays drums. Seeing this group and their talent blew me away. I also learned they will be in Cancun at a music festival in a few weeks. So he has already made a name for himself in the music world. They did some old school favorites of Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder as well as some original songs. Enjoyed their performance and look forward to seeing great things from them in the future.

Next up was a New Orleans group called Dumpstaphunk. They had a trombone player and trumpet player, 2 guys who knew how to hit notes that had us in awe. Then there were the guitars, the keyboard player and drummer that wowed us with their talent. They understood the assignment! That band brought it with them and left it with us! I had not heard of them before the lineup but believe me, when they play anywhere close to me, I am there!

Last but not least, Charlie Wilson was in the house. This was a treat for me because I had not seen him before in concert.  He said he had knee surgery and back surgery but the show had to go on! He had to sit a couple of times for a few minutes but I did not care! He brought it and the show was awesome! No one was disappointed. We were on our feet most of the show. The band and dancers were on point. It was such a great show. After the show, there were fireworks, which was fitting for the end of the show.

So day two is in the books. And what a wonderful day it was. If you have seen enough photos and want to go next year, call BMac Travel, 704-294-9150. We can get you a package on tickets and accommodations and airfare if necessary.

Clearwater Jazz Holiday Day 1

It never fails. Every year I get a treat at Clearwater Jazz Holiday. I am always introduced to a group that I enjoy and support. Of course, this year was no different. The three day event that happens every second weekend in October, was October 14-16, 2022 at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater, Florida. I knew I was going to love the shows and this year did not disappoint! First up on Friday was a husband and wife group called The War and Treaty. I had never heard of them but I have now! I am a fan and supported. Their harmony was refreshing and you could see the love and joy between them when they sang. It was delightful to watch!! If you don't know the group, check them out! Their music is really good and they put on a great show.
The second act on Friday was an old school group, AWB, better known as Average White band. They have been together for 50 years so I think that makes them more than Average at this point! Of course they took us down memory lane with School Boy Crush, Cut the Cake and Pick Up the Pieces! It was just fun to watch them take us back and they did a very good job with that. This was my first time seeing them on stage, so it will be a cherished memory for years to come.

The last act on Friday tore my nerves up, literally 🙃!  Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue came with the New Orleans sound that kept us on our feet from start to finish. I had seen then perform a few years ago at Clearwater Jazz Holiday so I thought I was prepared for their high energy show. However, I did not know Trombone had a secret weapon with him this time. He has BK Jackson performing with him. BK is from Tampa and so he had to show out and represent! And he made sure we knew his mother was in the audience which was a sweet touch! I was not ready for BK! What he does with a saxophone 🎷 blew my mind! His sheer talent along with Trombone Shorty was breathtaking. I can't describe it. You would have to be there. It was beyond words. There should be a law against so much talent on the stage at one time. After the show, I felt like I needed some oxygen. It was that intense. The crowd loved it and I did to. If you ever get the chance to see either of them perform, don't think twice. Just go! You will not be disappointed. Just wear comfortable shoes because you will be dancing the entire time!

The first day was one for the books of greatness. Can't wait for tomorrow.

Would You Like To Make Passive Income?

Every once in a while, an opportunity comes along that just makes sense. I have found one such opportunity. There is an awesome app that does a few things. First, it saves your memories for you with a time and date stamp with a place to add a title and comments. It also lets you add reminders! So, that alone is worth the $3.99 a month for the app. Then, it helps to feed the hungry thru FeedingAmerica.org. But the beauty of the app is that it allows you to make money while you use the app by sharing it with others. When you share with others and they use the app, you make money. Now, since you are not paying a lot, you will not be making a lot but here is the power of $1. If you get 10 people to join, that's $10. And if they each get 10 people, that is $110 a month for you. Not bad for a $3.99 app! Then, think about the people those will get to sign-up for the app. You will get .50 cents for each of them. So it breaks down like this: Get 10 (or more) people. $10. When those 10 get their 10, that is another $100 for you. And when those on your third level get their 10 each, thats another $550 for you. So you can see, this can be very lucrative for $3.99 a month app. So, feed the hungry, save your memories, get your reminders and make some money!! Need more information? Go to https://youtu.be/FnqpWT4RXMs and take a look at the 4 minute video. If you need more info, go the https://youtu.be/1WkL2oxzW6E. Tap on this link to download the app and get started: https://instantrecall.app.link?referral_Code=BRENWR1. If the referral code is not automatically on the app, it is BRENWR1. After you pay the subscription fee, text me at 704-294-9150 so I can give you the rest of the instructions on getting your wallet and joining our Facebook page.
