Amtrak Roomette

While small, the roomette was private and comfortable with attendant service, and breakfast and lunch were included.
Our attendant, Preston, was awesome. He even brought us a chocolate chip brownie and butter cake (a new experience for me. I had never heard of butter cake!) for a snack before we turned in for the night. And he warmed them up, so you know they were extra good!Breakfast is between 6:30am and 9:30am and lunch settings are 12:30pm, 1pm and 2pm. Meals are included with the roomette accommodations. We went to breakfast the next morning in the dining car. Cheryl took good care of us, and Dennis, our attendant for today, greeted me by name. I told him I thought i was on a cruise ship because he greeted me by name. He said his customer service was going to exceed that of cruise ships! Preston was also there to greet and assist us.For breakfast, I opted for the continental and chose a blueberry muffin, maple & brown sugar oatmeal, and strawberry greek yogurt. Hubby opted for the pancakes and sausage. If you do not want to come to the dining car, you can have room service and eat in your room. There is a table and cup holder for intimate (i.e. small room) dining. We pre-ordered our lunch, so when we went to the dining table, our food was quickly brought to us. I had the baked zidi with meatballs. Hubby had the atlantic salmon and seared shrimp with rice. Each came with tossed salad, a hot roll, butter, and a soda. Both meals were very good. We were both impressed with the quality and quantity of the meal. We want to shout out to Preston and Dennis who made our ride so enjoyable that we look forward to our next Amtrak ride just to be able to interact with them!
